Doris Charles

Doris Charles was the founder of Dot Lake. Gramma was gramma to everyone in the village including all the children from the North Star Children’s home in Dot Lake. She taught all of her “grandkids” how to cut fish at fish camp, took us exploring in the mountains, taught us our history and stories, regularly had beading classes and always enjoyed all of our birthday parties. She always kept her cookie jar full for any kids. She was a fierce advocate for education and subsistence rights
